SOME OF the best jazz musicians around will perform at the 11th Loulé International Jazz Festival, which runs from July 9 to 30. This year the bill features Sirkis, Venier, Goloubev Trio (July 9), Aníbal Martinez project (July 15), Carlos Bica Trio (July 16), Manuel Beleza Trio (July 22), Philip Catherine Quartet (July 23) and Chico Freeman Quartet (July 30), among many others. The event, organised by Loulé Casa da Cultura and supported by the Câmara, was first held in 1995. It was such a success that the following year the event took on an international dimension, with the participation of some of the great names in the world jazz panorama. Now, 11 years on, the Loulé International Jazz Festival is one of the highlights of the Portuguese jazz calendar.
