Best for business

Lisbon is the 58th best city in the world to recruit, employ and relocate employees, according to the People Risk Index 2012 by human resources company Aon Hewitt.  The Index measures the risks that organisations face with recruitment, employment and relocation in 131 cities worldwide by analysing factors such as demographics, access to education, talent development, employment practices and government regulations. Lisbon dropped eight places from last year “due to the current economic climate, family and business debt and high unemployment”, explained a spokesman for Aon Hewitt in Portugal. New York was number one business city in the world, followed by Toronto, Singapore, Montreal and London.
