Benefit recital in aid of cancer care

The Angels Theatre Group is presenting a classical music recital in aid of the Algarve Oncology Association on July 29 at Igreja da Misericórdia in Tavira at 7.30pm.

Stephen Dehn (baritone), who attended the Royal Academy of Music in London and worked as a professional musician, will be joined by guest soprano Maria Rocha, who performs regularly as a soloist in Spain and France. The Angels’ pianist, John Evans, who performed his first concert at the age of 15 and then went on to enjoy a successful career as a West End Musical Director, will be accompanying the singers.

The varied programme of solos and duets has a love and romance theme and includes works from Shubert, Mozart and Handel.

All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Algarve Oncology Association. Their projects so far include the construction of the Faro Radiotherapy Centre, mobile breast screening and Casa Flor das Dunas, which will provide accommodation to patients undergoing radiotherapy in Faro.

Over the years, the Angels Theatre Group has presented musical revues which have raised thousands of euros for charitable causes. The group is already planning its next stage show for the spring of 2017 – “Mad Dogs and Englishmen”, featuring the songs of Noël Coward.

Tickets cost €12, including wine and cocktail sandwiches. For reservations, contact Marion Griffiths:
