Algarve’s Bella Acapella Barbershop chorus performed two concerts this month at old people’s homes run by Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Moncarapacho (December 7) and São Brás de Alportel (December 9).
The performances aimed to spread “light and joy among those who need empathy and attention”. Said a spokesperson for the singing group: “We have the time, and the strength, because we are young. Giving our time and dedication to entertain other is our duty as a chorus in the Algarve.”
The spirit of Christmas was all around, with the singing bringing warmth and laughter among the audience.
The group described the opportunity to sing for the elderly and dedicated staff as “tender, emotional and rewarding moments shared with all”.
“We hope we have been able to put some magic into their daily routine,” said the singers.
Bella Acapella Barbershop chorus rehearses every Wednesday from 7.30pm to 10pm at the Re-Criativa República 14 in Olhão.
