Igreja da Misericórdia is considered one of the most beautiful churches in Tavira and was also the venue for a performance by Barbershop chorus Bella A Cappella on February 3.
Enjoying the great acoustics of the church, Bella A Cappella gave their first concert under their new “enthusiastic” musical director Rob Does.
The musical director explained how each part (bass, baritone, lead and tenor) comes together in Barbershop harmony.
The musicians played to a full house and the audience showed their enthusiasm by giving a standing ovation and asked for more. The chorus came back to sing “Happy Together”.
The concert was organised by the Academia de Música de Tavira, as part of the “Música nas Igrejas” (Music in Churches) programme.
Bella A Cappella has members of six nationalities and new members (male and female) are always welcome. Rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings in Clube Oriental in Pechão, between Estoi and Olhão.
