BEJA AIRPORT, which represents an investment of around 33 million euros, is due to start functioning in March 2009, according to the Empresa de Desenvolvimento do Aeroporto de Beja S.A (EDAP), the company that is managing the facility.
The final phase of the project has now started, which will see the construction of the passenger terminal, the cargo terminal, administration offices and a building for the fire brigade, among other facilities.
A statement released by EDAP said: “The construction of this infrastructure highlights the strategic importance of the Alentejo as a platform for logistic and touristic support for the country.”
