Bear cub invades grocery store

Shoppers in an Alaskan grocery store got a surprise when a black bear cub walked into the shop and started climbing over the fruit and vegetable section.

The bear cub walked through the front door of Tatsuda’s IGA in Ketchikan, a small town in the south of Alaska.

Shoppers crowded round with mobile phones to take pictures of the animal as it clambered across the fruit and vegetable displays.

Police on the scene seemed unsure about what to do as a local shopper grabbed the bear by the scruff of the neck before taking it outside and releasing it.

Local radio station KRBD reported that the bear was under size for this time of year and may have been hungry.
