Beachgoers dodge cliff collapse in Lagoa

A big block of rock fell from a cliff at the Vale Olival beach in Lagoa yesterday afternoon (June 30) but luckily landed in an area that was deserted at the time.

According to regional news website Sulinformação, the chunk of rock is still lying on the sand today and beachgoers are still alarmingly close to the affected area despite the cliff fall warnings that are set up.

Speaking to the Resident, Portimão port captain Santos Pereira said he will visit the beach this afternoon with members of the regional environment authority (APA) to evaluate the damage.
