SWIMMING WAS banned at three beaches in the Albufeira area by Comissão de Coordenação e Desenvolvimento Regional do Algarve (CCDR), the regional development commission, until Tuesday (April 15). The beaches were Inatel, Alemão and Pescadores.
The poor condition of the sea water was given as the reason for the closure by CCDR. New water analysis on Monday revealed that the water is now fit for swimming.
According to CCDR, the probable cause for the degradation in the water conditions of those beaches was the heavy rain registered in previous weeks, which resulted in uncontrolled pollution from the sewerage system.
