Beach works

Work along the beaches of Alvor Nascente and Prainha in Alvor is set to continue until the autumn according to the regional water resources authority (ARH).

After the work has been completed, which involves trucks depositing tonnes of sand to replace what was removed by strong winter tides, the beaches will be 40 metres wider. The work, which will cost more than 2.5 million euros, is being paid for by the ARH, EU funding, Portimão Câmara and the port and maritime transport institute (see Algarve Resident edition, May 29).
