Beach works

A cliff on the beach of Forte de São João in Albufeira has been demolished.

The Administração da Região Hidrográfica do Algarve (ARH), the regional water authority, said the cliff was demolished “in a controlled manner” by their technicians.

ARH is developing a list of actions to be taken at Algarve beaches before the beginning of the summer bathing season.

These safety works follow the tragic collapse of a cliff that killed five people on the Maria Luísa beach last summer.
