Vale de Lobo is not the only venue in the region to see high-class tennis action this month. The beautiful Praia da Marina in Vilamoura has been chosen as the setting for the second edition of the beach tennis Portuguese Open on August 21 and 22. Portugal, represented by former Davis Cup players Emanuel Couto and Nuno Marques, are the defending champions and hope to see off the challenges by teams from England, Spain and Brazil once more. Chris Wilkinson and Danny Sapsford will be in action for England, while Spain is represented by brothers Emilio and Javier Sanchez. Beach tennis is played on a court measuring 20 x 9 metres with the net 1.85m high. A VIP tournament involving several famous players will be staged around the main proceedings.
