Beach security

The Portuguese Navy has launched a project for the installation of 17 surveillance stations on beaches in the Algarve for this summer season.

A spokesman from the Portuguese Navy said: “These infrastructures must be ready before the official start of the bathing season to reinforce security on the beaches.”

The beaches of Manta Rota, Cabanas, Ilha de Tavira, Terra Estreita, Armona, Ilha de Faro, Vilamoura, Maria Luísa, Vau and Alvor will each have a surveillance station.

In Praia de Monte Gordo, three will be installed and Praia da Rocha and Meia Praia will have two each.
