A packet of cocaine weighing 14.25kg, which is enough for around 70,000 individual doses, was found on Três Irmãos beach in Alvor earlier this month.
In a statement, Cruz Martins, commander of Portimão port, said that the drugs, worth an estimated 600,000 euros, were found on December 7, protected by a rubber material.
Divers searched the surrounding waters but no other drugs were found.
