Beach action

As part of its ‘Clean-up Algarvean Beaches’ project, the Algarve Tourist Board (RTA) has delivered three beach-cleaning machines, three tractors, a truck, a pick-up and 240 recycling bins to Loulé Câmara. The aim is to clean the area’s beaches throughout the year so that they are always in tip-top condition for tourists. If it is successful, the RTA plans to extend the scheme across the region. Although the RTA has funded the equipment, Loulé Câmara and any other local authority that takes part in the scheme will be responsible for the actual cleaning of the beaches, as well as financing the ongoing operation and maintaining the equipment. In a further bid to keep its beaches clean, Loulé Câmara has also bought around 3,000 beach ashtrays, that will be distributed to tourists who visit the six Blue Flag beaches in the concelho: Vilamoura, Quarteira, Vale do Lobo, Garrão, Ancão and Quinta do Lago.
