Bassist dies

Lynyrd Skynyrd bassist, Donald “Ean” Evans has died at the age of 48 after a battle with cancer.

A statement posted on the band’s website said: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of long-time Lynyrd Skynyrd bassist Ean Evans.  He put up a valiant battle with an aggressive form of cancer and will be sorely missed by friends, family and fans.”

Lynyrd Skynyrd gained international fame with their hits Sweet Home Alabama and Free Bird and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
