The Portuguese language weekly newspaper Barlavento has now joined the Algarve Resident as part of the Open Media group. Established in 1975, the newspaper is the oldest surviving Portuguese language publication in the region.
The acquisition is seen as an important strategic move for the publishing group, bringing together the Algarve’s two most important regional newspapers covering the English and Portuguese language market.
This week’s edition (on sale throughout the Algarve) has already received a facelift with a fresh new design and an increase from 16 to 32 pages.
