BARCLAYS HAS recently opened its first branch in Albufeira, in Rua do Município. According to the firm, Barclays intends to reinforce its growing presence in the Algarve region, “by bringing to the city of Albufeira the strength of a prestigious international banking institution, with a 300-year-old tradition”.
With a team of professionals, Barclays aims to establish itself in the region as “an innovative and active bank that plays an important role for local companies”. In what concerns the private market, Barclays intends to offer new financial solutions, new banking methods and, “more importantly, an excellent service: personalised treatment by specialist managers to support clients on a day-to-day basis”.
With a clear growth strategy for the Portuguese and expatriate market, Barclays is asserting itself in new business areas, focusing on the mortgage sector, an area where it registered an increase in business of 38 per cent in 2005.
