The festival is based at the Centro Cultural de Barão de São João, with numerous activities taking place in various locations across the village and the surrounding territory, allowing visitors to explore the local natural and cultural heritage.
This year, the festival’s programme features more than 80 activities spread over the event’s three days: walks and themed tours, mountain biking trails, activities for children, well-being and workshops. A poetry session is also planned on Saturday in the late afternoon.
All activities are free but subject to registration on the festival’s website.
Exhibitions, walks, nature, workshops, music: the programme’s highlights
One of the highlights of the «Barão de São João – Walk & Art Fest» is its artistic installation, a collective exhibition of works by several local artists, which can be visited during the event on the streets of Barão de São João.
On Saturday night, as is tradition, the Centro Cultural de Barão de São João will host a concert: «Time for T», a solo performance by Tiago Saga, who will guarantee an entertaining night with his acoustic guitar.
The planned walks offer different levels of difficulty so that everyone can enjoy the physical activity and appreciate the nature of the parish. The themed tours are designed to allow visitors to discover local history, geology, architecture, fauna and flora.
Also noteworthy is the programme aimed especially at children: story time, treasure hunt, stamp workshop, and various nature discovery activities.
The well-being activities include practices such as Yoga, Tai Chi and QiGong (Chi Ckung), and group sessions that combine music, dance and movement, allowing everyone to participate and get involved.
Workshops will take place daily, ranging from the arts (cyanotype, creation of mandalas) to mindfulness, cooking(vegan food) and non-violent communication.
The programme and registration form are available on the event’s website.
The event is organised by the Lagos City Council and Associação Almargem in partnership with the local artistic community and with the support of the Union of Parishes of Bensafrim and Barão de São João.
