Banks increase cost of Multibanco cards by 28%

Whether we use it once or a hundred times, our ATM cash card is going to cost us 28% more this year than it did last – and charges have already increased more than 120% since 2009. Consumers association DECO is indignant – particular as the latest increase is 56 times higher than the increase in inflation. But the reality is consumers have no choice but to accept it.

Banks are “aggravating commissions” in order to compensate themselves for loss of income due to the fall in interest rates, explains DinheiroVivo.

In other words, banks have found the way to survive economic highs and lows, in a way consumers can’t.
