Portugal’s new investment bank which morphed from BBI (Banif Banco de Investimento) – purchased by Chinese last summer – has now had its choice of CEO approved by the Bank of Portugal.
Fang Bian is described as a Chinese banker with more than 30 years in investment banking and asset management between Beijing, Hong Kong and London.
The incoming bank boss has said he is honoured and keen to get started.
Initially, Portuguese banker Pedro Oliveira Cardoso was tipped for the post, but his past at State Bank CGD during years of well-exposed mismanagement prompted a Chinese change of heart.
