A professional hitman (Nicolas Cage) finds that his anonymous persona is threatened through a sequence of encounters during his latest assignment in Bangkok. As usual, he finds an expendable street kid called Kong to run his errands but after Kong finds out who he is, he asks to be taken on as an apprentice.
Cage also meets a local deaf girl and spends time with her while trying to hide his true life. This becomes increasingly difficult as the person who hired him breaks his rule of complete anonymity and tries to find him.
