Balaia Bowls Club welcomes visiting teams

The summer seems to have arrived and with it a busy week for Balaia with several visiting teams.

On Tuesday afternoon, April 18, Balaia hosted Gosport Bowling Club’s visiting team. It was a noisy sets game, 18 ends played over two halves, with a drinks and comfort break after nine, before the completion of the game. Drinks were enjoyed on the terrace of the clubhouse afterwards, when winners were announced and presents exchanged. No-one seemed to want to go home!

Saturday, April 22 was cloudy and a cooler day, but the strong wind had finally subsided just a little to allow Balaia to host a visiting team from Bognor Bowls Club, a large group, necessitating both morning and afternoon matches. Lunch was a good time for mixing and finding out more about the people here on holiday. Drinks were enjoyed later after completing the two rounds of games, when results, presents and much banter were exchanged. A full day for everyone.

On Sunday, April 23 Kathleen Walkers Touring visiting team arrived, and the Algarve had returned to the kind of weather we all love – warm, sunny and cloudless sky. A lively morning’s bowling took place and was followed by a carvery lunch in the clubhouse when winners were announced and presents exchanged. A thoroughly good day, a great game and lunch were had by all.

Balaia was due to welcome Bovingdon Bowls Club on Tuesday, April 25 and High Wycombe Bowls Tour on Wednesday, April 26.

Balaia welcomes bowlers of all levels, new or experienced.
