With the rain holding off for a few hours on Sunday, February 12, Balaia Bowls Club entertained 27 members and friends with a Valentine’s Fun Bowling Morning, followed by a carvery lunch in the clubhouse.
Competitions were €2 to enter, with proceeds collected in aid of the Albufeira Bombeiros and everyone dressed in red and white to represent St Valentine’s Day.
Various versions of bowling took place from bowling left-handed to putting the bowls up without a jack and bowling the jack to the head or having no jack, instead a coin to bowl to, testing bowlers’ skill at remembering where the jack was.
The Spider prize was won by Jean King, the Booby Prize by Peter King, Sally Roberts and Bryan Simpson, and the competition prize of three bottles of French wine provided by Private Fund Management of Almancil by Peter Hare, Tony Dean and Gerald Plant.
Balaia welcomes bowlers of all levels, new or experienced, and has its roll up on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9.45am for 10am start. All are welcome.
