Members of the Balaia Bowls Club were welcomed by the Albufeira Bombeiros to a First Aid/CPR demonstration on Wednesday, February 1. The short course was to demonstrate the new breathing apparatus and Resusci Annie dummies used by the firefighters in rescue and resuscitation.
The new equipment was purchased with funds raised by Balaia Bowls Club from three members performing tandem parachute jumps last July, during which the club raised over €5,000 in sponsorship.
A cloudy start to Saturday, February 4 saw Balaia Bowls Club play their Bowls Algarve League Week 19 matches. The PODS Team lost all three rinks away to Pedras Panthers, whilst the Whalers played at home to Tavira Titans winning all three rinks. This maintains the PODS in 14th place in the League.
Balaia welcomes bowlers of all levels, whether new or experienced, and has its roll up on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9.45am for 10am start. All are welcome.
