Bad weather

Around 30 roads were closed on Tuesday across Portugal due to flooding or landslides caused by the recent heavy rainfall.

Lisbon had the greatest number with 12 roads closed, followed by Santarém with six road closures.

In each of the districts of Aveiro, Braga, Faro, Setúbal, Viseu and Vila Real, one road was closed, most of which were municipal or countryside roads.

According to the national meteorological institute, this year has seen the wettest February in mainland Portugal for the last 24 years, while the island of Madeira had more rain in February than since records began in 1865.
