My thoughts and prayers go to the family of Paul Houston and I hope that the murderers are caught soon and dealt with in a manner befitting the crime.
Portugal is one of our favourite destinations and while I fully understand that this type of crime can happen anywhere, it is very bad news for Portugal, especially after the tragic disappearance of Maddie.
In my experience the authorities need to close on these things in a speedy manner using every means at their disposal and deliver tough justice to the perpetrators otherwise Portugal will suffer grave consequences in the tourist market over and above the current downturn.
Very few people in Thailand risk arrest as no one wants to experience the horrors of a Thai jail or possible execution. Might sound harsh but it works.
