Bad news and good news
It’s been a challenging couple of weeks at The Resident office. Firstly, we had a break-in and three of our computers, full of vital information, were stolen. However, thanks to the hard work of the Lagoa GNR officers, we have now had almost all the equipment returned to us, proving that it really is worth reporting robberies and break-ins, no matter how petty, to the police.
This week we’ve been battling with the stormy weather and the consequent power cuts across the Algarve. After almost two days without electricity, we had no choice but to bring the paper out on a Friday, as opposed to our usual Thursday publication day. The storms also knocked out our telephone system, so you may have been unable to reach us earlier this week.
We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to our readers and advertisers over the past two editions. Thieves and weather permitting, we expect to resume normal service next week.
