THE overwhelming generosity of readers and the Friends Lunch Club has ensured there were enough backpacks donated to equip all the children on the register of the Castelo de Sonhos in Silves and some at the Pirilampos and Gaivota children’s homes, both in Albufeira.
Thanks go to everyone who bought backpacks and also to the local press and radio, which ensured that the campaign was well promoted.
Our thanks also goto the staff at the Hotel Garbe, where many of the backpacks were collected.
Children from underprivileged families in the Silves and Albufeira areas will now return to school feeling equal to their peers, thanks to you.
