Back road disaster

Dear Editor,

The road from the EN125 at Penina to Monte Canelas must be one of the busiest in the area as not only does it service a large rural population but is also a back route to the autodrome.

The surface of this road is in a very poor state with potholes, sunken areas and man-hole covers all in need of attention.

We are told that the Câmaras have no money and are heavily in debt, so why are they putting up lighting along this road? – a question I put to a local Portuguese resident.

Answer: “So that drivers can see the dangerous state of the road at night.”

Of course. Silly me!
