The Open Media Group’s international events promoting Portugal continue to grow from strength to strength. The team returned last week from this year’s second USA roadshow, this time taking in San Francisco and New York.
A total of 15 companies joined Open Media for the seminar events which attracted close to 300 people.
As reported in the national press following an interview by Portugal’s press agency Lusa with Open Media CEO Bruce Hawker, the events attracted mostly middle-class American citizens who are looking to relocate to Portugal attracted by the cost of living, climate and security.
“Portugal ranks consistently as the best, or at least one of the best places to retire in the world, but there were also significant numbers of younger people at the seminars who were keen to know more about living and working in Portugal,” said Bruce Hawker.
Estate agents and developers at the events all reported healthy sales leads and other event partners such as Medal insurance brokers, Global International Relocation and law firm Martínez Echevarría & Ferreira were all in high demand.
Open Media plans to stage at least two and possibly three roadshow events in the USA next year and, in the meantime, is working on events in South Africa taking place in November this year.
Bruce Hawker, who is visiting South Africa next week to make final preparations for the events, explains: “South Africa has long been an important market for real estate sales here in Portugal, especially in the Algarve. It was one of the top markets for golden visas and many South Africans wanting to move here were not aware of other options such as the D7 visa. We will be providing in-depth information on all visa options, including the revised golden visa scheme. We will also have a doctor from Portugal talking about healthcare, tax advice and much more.”
The events will take place on Saturday, November 11 in Johannesburg and the following Saturday, November 18 in Cape Town.
