Back by popular demand …

TIME OF My Life, the play by Alan Ayckbourn is back. After its successful run at Paderne’s Casa do Povo, the A Portada Theatre Group will, once again, be performing the play, this time around at the Auditorio Municipal de Lagoa, in Lagoa.

Said by many to be an “absolute joy from start to finish”, A Portada Theater Group’s presentation will re-educate all those who thought that amateur dramatics was all about shoddy sets, hammy acting and awkward silences.

Time of My Life is set in Gerry Stratton’s favourite restaurant, where he has organised a small family dinner with his sons, Glyn and Adam, to celebrate his wife Laura’s 54th birthday. Glyn brings along his long-suffering wife, Stephanie and Adam, his new girlfriend, Maureen.

The occasion suggests a happy domestic scene, but gradually family skeletons come tumbling out of the closet. Glyn’s story moves forward in time, Adam’s moves back, while at the centre, Gerry and Laura pick apart their marriage and recall first love.

Do not miss these last two opportunities to see Time of My Life on Saturday, November 18 at 8pm or Sunday, November 19 at 5pm.

In addition to the play, why not make a night of it and enjoy dinner next door to the theatre? Restaurant Churrasqueira Donna-Anna, next to the Auditorio will be open at 6.30pm for any theatre-goers who would like dinner before the performance and will open especially on Sunday for anyone wanting to eat after the show. To book a table on either night call 282 342 690.

Tickets cost 12 euros and can be reserved by calling 911 058 191 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

The Auditorio Municipal de Lagoa can be found by turning off the A22 at exit six, signposted Lagoa, then follow signs for Lagoa Sul, Centro de Saúde and Auditorio Municipal de Lagoa.
