Friday’s gruesome news (click here) has had a ‘good ending’: doctors have reattached the severed part of the finger of the baby attacked by a monkey at Zoo Santo Inácio in Vila Nova de Gaia. According to reports, the child had been ‘feeding the monkey peanuts’ when the animal bit off the end of her finger. A police agent later entered the cage, recovered the severed digit and this and the child were transported to S. João hospital in Porto where ‘reconstructive surgery’ is said to have ‘gone very well’. The little girl should be ready to return home in the early part of next week.
