A WOMAN was taken to the Judicial Police station in Gaia, Porto, after confessing to family that she killed her newborn baby and stored it in the freezer.
She admitted killing the baby and covering it before placing it in the freezer but she cannot be held in preventive custody pending an investigation due to changes in the penal code.
The newborn is said to have died from asphyxiation and the mother could be sentenced to a maximum of seven years for infanticide and hiding a body.
