A baby girl was born inside a car outside Faro Hospital’s A&E unit on Monday afternoon.

According to reports in national press, the father decided to take his pregnant wife to the hospital by car despite having contacted the 112 emergency hotline. The couple live in Picota, Loulé, around 26 kilometres away from Faro.

Medical assistance was provided after the birth by INEM and VMER health professionals.

Both the baby and mother are well.
