An earthquake with magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale was at 4.41 local time this morning (5.41 according to mainland time) on the islands of Faial, Pico and São Jorge in the Azores. According to CIVISA (the archipelago’s Seismovulcanic Surveillance and Information Centre) the earthquake was felt with maximum intensity IV/V (Modified Mercalli scale) in the parishes of Capelo, Castelo Branco, Feteira, Praia do Norte, Cedros, Salão, Ribeirinha, Pedro Miguel, Praia do Almoxarife, Conceição, Matriz, Angústias and Flamengos (municipality of Horta, Faial island). It was “also felt with intensity IV in the parishes of Madalena and São Caetano (Madalena municipality, Pico island) and São João (Lajes do Pico municipality, Pico island), Rosais and Velas (Velas municipality, São Jorge island).”
