Autopsy inconclusive

THE AUTOPSY on the body of a German sailor who was found dead in the Ria de Alvor in Portimão in December has proved inconclusive (See The Resident, January 4).

The identity of the man has not been revealed by the authorities. A spokesman from the German embassy told The Resident: “The autopsy result was inconclusive so accident or suicide cannot be confirmed.

“We cannot reveal the man’s identity at the specific request of the family.”

The man lived aboard his boat the Sinbad in Portimão harbour and was found hanging from the side of his boat by a local fisherman, who contacted the authorities on December 30.
