Author presents third novel

Algarve based author John Piper and long term resident of the region will be attending the next ALFA ‘Exploring English’ meeting on April 11, where his latest book 25 Kilos of Butter will be presented.

This is the author’s third novel that takes readers into the lives of two ordinary families living lives amongst friends and other professionals in Germany, as extraordinary events unfold around them in the approach to the Olympic Games of 1936.

The two families are respected and respecters of others but become increasingly involved in the disturbing events around them which all their basic instincts oppose.

As they and their children struggle to keep their values intact, the reader of this book is forced to understand the difficulties that many faced during this frightening moment in history.

John will be available to sign books at the meeting, which will be on sale on the day. He will be giving the audience an insight into his life, where he will be telling some of his childhood stories and personal experiences in the Second World War, leading him to writing this book based on fact.

The event will begin at 2.30pm in the Convento de S. José in Lagoa and all are welcome to attend.

There is no entry fee, however all donations are welcomed.
