Author meets Algarve fans

HOT OFF the press book, A Year in Monchique, by author Paul McKay, was much sought after even before it hit the shelves with many fans pre-ordering their copies via the publishers.

Now, fans of his column for The Resident ‘A month in Monchique’ can head to their favourite bookshop to buy their copy of the book, which is already proving to be a success considering the number of people who attended the two book signing sessions last Saturday.

Paul was at the Griffin Bookshop in Almancil in the morning, signing copies of his book for the dozens of fans who eagerly waited to meet the man who has brought laughter to many through his monthly column for The Resident. Linda Taylor Gonçalves, owner of the Griffin, told The Resident: “In just two days, we sold dozens of books.”

Paul McKay said: “It’s exciting to meet all these people who have followed my monthly writings for The Resident.”

Local resident Linda Smith was there to get a signed copy for her daughter, who lives in Scotland: “My daughter has been a fan of Paul’s articles for so long that when she found out he had released a book, she asked me to get her a copy.”

In the afternoon, the author was busy signing copies at the Algarve Bookworms in Albufeira where he received an unexpected visit from Santa Claus!
