In an interview with Público newspaper, showing how much Europe’s thinking is changing, António Tajani, EC Vice-President, has admitted that “to only demand sacrifices is a big mistake”. The time has come to start bolstering Europe’s industrial sector in order to generate employment, he said.
To do this, the EC will now work to simplify the creation of new companies – helping access to community funding, and carrying out initiatives in countries “greatly affected by youth unemployment”.
Tajani took the chance during this latest interview to praise the Portuguese people for their economic sacrifices.
“It is important to thank them for their efforts as they are also a service to Europe,” he said, stressing that now it is time for Europe to return the favour by helping Portugal back towards economic growth.
