Overall temperatures in August this year were the lowest since 1996.
Despite endless “hotter-than-hot” days in the Algarve, maximum temperatures did not exceed 40ºC, said a source for IPMA, the institute of sea and atmosphere.
It is “a situation that hasn’t been observed since August 1996”, added the source.
Traditionally known as the month that demonstrates all seasons, IPMA’s data showed that average maximum and minimum temperatures were both below “normal levels”.
