LISBON RESIDENTS and tourists were introduced to a new initiative last week: informative audio tours of the city’s main historic districts.
The pilot scheme, run by the Centro em Movimento (CEM), aims to get people to experience the city in a new light.
The pilot scheme, called Audio Tours, was free last week when CDs and earphones were made available by CEM at the Junta de Freguesia de São Nicolau.
The CD comes with a map of six points in the city with users clicking on the track that corresponds to the point in the city where they are. Each set walk lasts around 30 minutes.
If successful, it is likely that the recordings could be made available for visitors in different languages.
