AUCHAN group to buy Minipreçco/ Mais Perto outlets in Portugal for €155 million

Portugal’s AUCHAN group is purchasing the 489 Mini Precço and Mais Perto supermarkets in the country from Spain’s Grupo DIA for a reported €155 million. The deal is subject to approval by the Competitions Authority. In a joint statement issued today, the two companies say the purchase will see AUCHAN reinforce its position in the sector and expand its network of local shops. For Grupo DIA, the deal will see it leave Portugal to concentrate on business elsewhere.
