Dear Editor,
Recently, my son and two of his friends were in Praia da Rocha at a nightclub.
They left at about 4am to head back to Alvor but were accosted by three Portuguese guys. My son and his friends walked away and headed off to get a taxi but the Portuguese guys followed them and started attacking one of them.
It may make some people a little happier (especially those who have already been attacked by these guys) that as my son and his friends are young and very athletic skate boarders, they defended themselves and gave better than they got and later found out that one of the Portuguese guys had a broken nose and all three would have been too sore to attack anyone else for a few nights anyway.
The unbelievable part of this is that my son and his friends ran around Praia da Rocha looking for police to report this incident but couldn’t find even one so they just got a taxi home.
On this occasion, I guess we were lucky that they picked on the wrong group of guys and while I don’t condone violence, I have to say I am a little proud of my son for sticking up for himself and giving these guys a taste of their own medicine. Let’s be honest, the police don’t seem to be able to do anything to catch them.
