THE BRITISH Consul for the Algarve does not undertake to issue advice on crime prevention measures to residents in the areas affected by robberies at their homes.
Following last week’s story in The Resident, we have been asked to point out that this is a matter for the police. The Resident is happy to put the record straight.
However, the Consul has spoken to the police, to relay the deep concern being felt by members of the British community in the area and to encourage them to issue advice on crime prevention measures and to raise awareness generally.
Police suggest that residents should keep their homes securely locked at all times and should report to them any unusual circumstances, including the presence of strange vehicles or individuals in the areas concerned.
Residents should also inform the police if they are leaving their properties unoccupied for any length of time.
