Attack on taxpayers

THE CDS-PP coalition parties are to vote against the Portuguese State Budget 2008 (OE) because they claim it is “attacking the taxpayer”.

In a statement to parliament, the coalition is to submit 12 reasons why it is voting against the budget. The main reason, according to Paulo Portas, is the government’s plans to raise various stealth taxes which will cripple small and medium businesses and hit the pocket of the ordinary man in the street.
