Top quality international club football will be on show in the Algarve when the Atlantic Cup 2012 kicks off at the former Faro-Loulé Euro’2004 venue on January 28.
The second edition of last year’s popular inaugural tournament is again organised by former Swedish international Stefan Schwarz in conjunction with promoters Sporting Events Ltd and will have a round-robin format involving six European sides all involved in their respective countries’ domestic title races.
The two groups will see Scandinavian representatives Odense BK and FC Midtjylland from Denmark as well as Swedish side Helsingborg IF joined by Poland’s Wisla Krakow, Austria’s Rapid Vienna and Dynamo Zagreb from Croatia.
Following the initial phase scheduled for 5pm and 8pm kick-offs over the subsequent nine days, the two top clubs from each group will meet in the title match at 5pm on February 7.
Tickets for the games at the Stadium of the Algarve are priced at €5 for a single encounter or €10 for two-game match days while children under 16 enjoy free admittance.
