ATA steps up tourism campaign

THE ALGARVE Tourism Association (ATA) is promoting the Algarve image in the British press until the end of this month.

The association is targeting all aspects of the media world, from websites to newspapers and magazines, with advertisements featuring the motto ‘Feel the Energy’. The Manchester Evening News, Luton Herald & Post, Liverpool Echo and Newcastle Evening Chronicle, where airports and airlines offer cheap direct flights to Faro, have all been approached by ATA.

The association is branching out to reach all types of potential tourists, including those who use the internet as a tool to make life easier. Pop-up ads will appear on www.lastminute.com as well as www.lonelyplanet.com to target people who buy flights online rather than using travel agents.

A total of 500,000 euros has been spent on the campaign.
