Changes as a result of Brexit have seen at least two Portuguese stopped from entering the UK recently. The Secretary of State for the Portuguese Communities has told Lusa that one of the nationals was ‘temporarily arrested’. Both had to return to Portugal. The news follows a report on the Politico site which claimed that ‘dozens of European nationals’ have been detained at airports and placed in temporary detention centres for several days before being deported. The Guardian reported last week that some of the Europeans affected had job interviews – a situation that should have allowed them entry.
