ASAE (health and safety) inspectors have showcased today the dark side of ‘Alojamento Local’, in the context of yesterday’s raids on networks powering illegal immigration. The truly disgusting conditions were discovered in 11 premises licensed as AL (short-term lettings) businesses. These businesses have now had their licenses removed. According to a social media post by ASAE, more than 100 immigrants were found living at the addresses, a number of them in a “situation of illegal permanence in this country”.
